The Thing Around Your Neck by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie
It's another classic by the one and only Chimamanda. Now this book is amazing. It's not just one story, it's a book of stories. Literally...I'm not kidding, an actual book full of stories. Each chapter is another story from a whole different point of view. You learn so much about different types of people from different backgrounds. This is a must read for sure. You can't just skip over this book, you have to read each and every word because you can't catch up in the next chapter, it's page by page and word by word. That's what makes it even more amazing to read.
I would try to give you an overview/summary of the book but honestly, I don't think I can. It's what I said, a story of stories. There is nothing connecting these stories, they don't tie in together, they're just there. They're there for us to read and enjoy, learning new things the whole time. It's more than a book, it's an actual experience. From aspiring to do something to almost getting deported to even getting an arranged marriage. It's a book of experiences that Nigerians or any other culture/people can experience in this lifetime.
Now I've talked about Chimamanda so many times and you probably know all about her. So in this one, I'll just talk about her genius technique. This woman entered the mind of completely different people in completely different situations. It wasn't just a few but many. Whether she has experienced it or not, I have no idea. All I know is that she sure captured the big picture and she made it amazing. I loved her style in this one. In fact, it was a diary of different people. This was a true work of art.
Now all you have to do is read this book and feel what I felt and understand what I understood. I hope you enjoyed my review, although it was short I hope it was interesting at the same time. Keep reading and loving books guys. Love you❤😊
