Time: The Kalief Browder Story (Review)

Now when I tell you that you aren't mentally prepared to hear this story, I'm not exaggerating. This story is a horror story for black people. I watched this maybe 2  weeks ago and I still feel hurt and terrified because of what happened to this young boy who isn't here with us today. You could just look at Instagram and see the news about him, but you won't see what REALLY happened. I advise you to watch "Time: The Kalief Browder Story" on Netflix. This review is not the normal review that I would give you and not spoil anything. I'm going to give you details. I'm going to make this an educational resource for those who don't have Netflix and aren't able to learn about this boy's story.

I am going to mention that Jay-Z was an executive producer of this documentary. The other one that I know of... I'd rather not mention their name. Anyways, Kalief himself could not be a physical part of this documentary because he was murdered. Well, it was a suicide, but technically murder. You want to know why? I'll tell you why. They broke him. Who are they? America to sum it up. The system broke him. Riker's Island, Systematic Racism, Laws against people of the black race,  the right to a "Speedy Trial", the NYPD, and the authorities broke him. They hurt him, broke him, wrongly accused him. They damaged him, bent him, shattered him. They injured him, beat him, slaughtered him. Kalief Browder was a victim of everything that was wrong with the law system. The worst part was that he didn't even do it. He was just coming back from a party. That's all he did. His case was looked over and adjourned several times. Up until the point this young boy of 16 years old spent 3 years in prison unconvicted. In this documentary, they break down every part of this terrible journey that was endured by him for the understanding of everyone. It's scary bro. It's not okay. It's terrifying and heartless. It's just bad. They really just played the game of time and used it against him. In this documentary, they also mention an incident that happened with his older brother, Akeem Browder. The "Bronx Rapist". That's in quotation marks because it wasn't even him. This same story happened with his older brother except he didn't continuously demand justice for himself. He just pleaded guilty. He's a felon now. For something, he didn't even do. The funny thing is that if he pleaded guilty at the time he was even arrested (15 years old) he wouldn't be a felon. They played time like a fiddle for his case and waited for a year before they discussed his case well. This means that he can be convicted as a felon and he was. This means it's hard to get a job, education, or even a normal life. For something you DIDN'T EVEN DO!

They do this to people who have full lives ahead of them. They do this to people who have so much more to do with themselves. They break them and hurt them and make them crazy. They ruin them and abolish them. They make them run out of time. This is just one story out of many. Please continue to educate yourselves and if you are able to go ahead and watch this documentary, you should. Thank you for joining me and reading this. Stay blessed, woke and educated.
