Image
Hey readers!!! I haven't been here in over a month😞. Don't worry though, I'll be coming as often as I can. I just need to sort out a few things. Anyways, let's get into the review!!! This is my second requested review by the way!!! There are more to come!!! Love Triggers was a lovely book with so many twists and turns y'all. I was like dang!!! I loved this book so much and I just kept reading it. It was so good and different if you will. How about I just give you a little scoop😉. Okay, so this story was set in the United States of America. It starts with an assassin doing his job, you know the usual. Just going off and killing people and stuff, just casual tingz. Anyways, this assassin almost dies on a mission and has been in a coma for some time, I forgot how long (that's for you to read 😉!) As he almost dies, he realises that he wants something more in life. His life isn't complete because all he knows is how to kill. Mind you, this life wasn't

"Birthright" by Adenike Lucas (Requested Review!!!)

Hey readers!!!!! Today I’m back with something very very special. This is my first REQUESTED REVIEW!!!!!! It’s kind of the equivalent of a lifestyle blogger’s brand deal except I’m not getting paid…yet 😏. Anyways, I’d like to acknowledge the author that reached out to me with such a pleasant piece of literature. *DRUM ROLL* Adenike Lucas!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She was the very first author to reach out to me with his book, Birthright . Told you I had something special planned 😉. Let me just tell you something now now. This book right here is beautifully written. At first I thought I would have to call out the confusion in time eras and all of that, but all of that is explained later on. Nothing is out of place here, everything is perfectly explained and written. Look man, Imma need you to buy this book immediately after this review because you are in for a sweet sweet treat. Also, I’m not sure if this is a spoiler alert but there are some very scary things that happen in this book. Although,

'Sunset in Biafra' by Elechi Amadi (Review!!!)

Image
Hey readers, your girl is back with another review!!! This time it's a book review and you are going to love this one. Shall we? (Please note that the picture is edited to look grungy. Thank you!) Sunset in Biafra  is such a credible source to see what happened int he Biafran war. Even though it's a bit opinionated and from one person's point of view, you actually get t a side of the story you probably have never heard before. Bear with me, as this is not a story, it will be a pretty short review. This is a real account of Elechi Amadi's experience during the Biafran war. He was a general who just recently resigned his job before all hell broke loose. Within this book you learn a few things about Nigeria back then and how everything came about. You get to know the exact words used by the leaders at the time, and a few reasons for the tensions in Nigeria at the time. You get to see Elechi Amadi's journey from when he was captured several times to having to claim the

13th (Review!!!)

Image
Hey readers! I left for a whole week😭. I missed you guys so much! I left due to technical difficulties, but don't worry I'm back at my laptop coming at you with a whole new review!!! This review should be considered as an educational resource, so enjoy!!! Now let me tell you something, this documentary right here blew my mind😱! I loved the way that the speakers explained the impacts of the 13th amendment and why slavery was never really over. I understood the judicial system a lot more. This was an amazing documentary folks. Let me summarize it for you. So you see the 13th amendment technically says that nobody in the United States of America can be held against their own will UNLESS they are convicted of a crime. So that means, you are free until you go to jail. That clause right there is what is ruining lives till this day. Immediately after the Civil War, America had to rejuvenate its economy. The basis of their economy before was actually slavery. So they thought, "N

'The Bride Price' by Buchi Emecheta (Review!)

Image
Hey readers! Coming at you with another book review!!! I hope you like it!!! Alright, enjoy!!! The Bride Price  by Buchi Emecheta is such an amazing work of literature. I loved every part of it and I loved the historical and cultural ties it included. I guess you guys could call me a sucker for historical fiction 😉 . The complexity of her writing shows in each and every one of her works, and it's just so perfect. It's not fairytale-like, it's real. I really love this book!!! Okay, let me make you love it too! This story starts in the city of Lagos, in a home where a family lives. One day, the father leaves Akunna (the main character) and her brother at home. He said he was going to be back but, he never came back. No, he didn't just disappear silly; he died. Something was wrong with him and he was so, very sick. After this event, there was a long period of mourning, in that household. In fact, there was a whole funeral. It included the various tradition in the Ig

Murder to Mercy: The Cyntoia Brown Story (Review!)

Image
Hey Readers!!!! I'm coming at you with another review! Although the girl in this story is black, I don't think her case was judged like that because of her skin color, it was more of.... Well, let me just begin. Cyntoia Brown, a girl who was convicted of a crime in 2004. This was when she was 16 years of age. She was a child. Did she commit the crime? Yes, infact she did. She killed a man and was sentenced to life in prison (well 60 years with parole after 51). Why is this a story since she did commit the crime? Well, to answer your question, it wasn't the case of if she did it; it was why she did it. Let me explain. Cyntoia Brown came from a bloodline of... messed up people if you will. In this documentary, they refer to her as a child who didn't have a chance before birth and didn't have a chance now (at the time that is). She comes from a family of mentally abused, molested, and addicted people. This was on her mother's side by the way. Her fat

'The Slave Girl' by Buchi Emecheta (Review!)

Image
I'm finally back again! Did you miss me?😉Today I'm here with another book review!!!!!! So let's get into this delight of a book! 'The Slave Girl' is such a lovely book. I think I even read it twice! Although I don't think I finished it the first time. Anyways, let's really talk about this book. Shall we? Buchi Emecheta wrote this book in such a perfect way. Let me explain. It all started with an ogbanje child. An ogbanje child is one that keeps dying and coming back. This child in particular never died and came back. She was a girl child of course, so it was very unusual for them. This is because every ogbanje child they had given birth to was a girl child. Who is they? Her parents of course. Who is her? Ogbanje Ojebeta of course. She is the token slave girl, but we aren't there yet! I don't even think I want to tell you how she became a slave. Yeah, that's for you to find out😉. Anyways, her parents were so excited to have her. They a
